Protect individual notes with a master PIN (and fingerprint / face). Lock a note from the ๐ button in its editor. If you forget your PIN, a recovery code is the only way back in โ generate and save one below.
Reminders fire as a notification even when the app is fully closed, via push. If a reminder came due while you were offline, it also appears as an overdue banner the next time you open the app. Note: Android's battery optimization can occasionally delay a notification by a couple of minutes โ if reminders stop arriving, check that battery optimization is disabled for NotesMD.
